The last part of our name is actually very easy-even though we are located on the corner of Clay and Third Street in Mebane, our physical address is 200 N. Third.
NOW, KARMA- If you look up the word, "karma"-it has many different meanings to many different cultures. One thing that you will find is consistent-the belief began in India, ages ago. Basically it means to most of us "as you reap, you sow". I really like the idea that you have to give something to get it. Nothing comes easily; life is often a hard journey. If you never had to work for anything; what value would you place on it? So, in order to receive something of worth; you have to give something equally valuable. Thus to me, Karma means "Doing Good Rebounds".
If I can make a difference to just one person a day, then I have accomplished something. A kind word or gesture-what did it cost me-yet, what has it given to another person. In return, I may have gained a friend or at least a good feeling that I took the time to go the extra mile, no matter how small. In return, when I am having a rough day, maybe someone will reach out and extend a little kindness to me!
So, this week here are a few things you could do (and, as always so can I!!)-let someone in front of you in line at a store, hold the door for someone struggling with packages, let someone stuck in a line of cars-get out (me, at Ian's school-kidding!), tell someone they look nice, smile, and say hello to a stranger. They might not answer back, but you tried-and remember-Karma is around the corner.
