In my old age, I have learned a lot about doing small kindnesses-they really do come back to you in spades (for those of you who are to young to know this saying-spades in card games are generally good-hense the saying!). When ever I do a small kindness, I get repaid in triplicate. The other day, I was having a bad day (just a "Murphy's Law Day") when a nice man came into Karma and give me a large package of gum and a candy bar. I had given him a cup of coffee on a day we were not open, as he enjoys our deck and I had plenty to share. What a nice surprise-an expected kindness to snap me out of my "blue" mood.
On occasion, when I am alone, I have found a twenty dollar bill on my cash register-I was always perplexed as to where it came from. I found out it is one of my friends, who knows Karma is a little struggling business. I have at times given her little discounts or something small for free. She is a wonderful-and I am so lucky to have her and all my friends supporting Karma. Who has friends who will work for free? Me!!!
I have customers who come back because we went "the extra mile"-I don't charge for food you don't like (even if it is fine-just not your cup of tea) and I always say we have 100 percent satisfaction! I can honestly say we have the most wonderful customers-good, kind people who return to support us (some eating with us daily).
I have a local advertising magazine who will put things in for me ...for free!!! They know I can't afford to pay for advertising, so they help me out. I am lucky to say, lately I have been able to promote them! It was my turn to do good! I have been given gifts by other merchants, supported and I try to support them back, as best I can.
So, today remember life really is good, doing something good for someone comes back to you many times over and hugs are free!! Hugs (Had to say it), Lorna
