Some of you may have noticed our display cases have been a little empty lately. That is because we had our cold case break down (for the third time!!). We lost everything Sherry had baked the night before and that day :( I have decided to use the other case (which works) as a cold case and the non-functioning one as the warm case (I am not willing to pay more money at this time for it to break again in a week or so-which is what is happening!). Sherry is hard baking (along with making soup, specials, sandwiches, and special orders), so we are already filling up the cases again. I am sorry for any disappointments, but life (and things breaking down) happen. I know some of you have also asked me about specials you enjoy being offered more often. We are going to work on this! Sherry is our only full time chef and she is working very hard to get everything done. Paul helps as often as he can, but he has a full time job and a three year old!!! Jonathan is no longer with us (he has a new job that was exactly what he was looking for, and we wish him good luck!). So, we are working hard and getting Sherry more help, so we can offer you more specials.
Sometimes in day to day life we get so focused on what is wrong that we don't see the positive. I am working hard on staying focused on all the good things around us! These little bumps in the road, are just that-bumps in the road! Certainly nothing life threatening, or of great concern. As long as we are all healthy, have our friends and family; life is good! It is easy to sit and cry about the small things (and I have done that recently ) but the good out weighs the bad. Whatever is meant to happen, will happen-some things we can fix and some we just have to learn to live with. At the end of the day, what really matters is... people, and if we treated everyone the best way we could that day, if we listened and really heard what they were saying and if we really tried to help anyone who was in need. Need doesn't always involve finances, it could be emotional. Everyone has needs, and it is important that I hear what people are saying and giving them what they need me to give. Karma is about having wonderful fresh, local food, coffees, pastries - but there is more!! Sometimes I need to step back and look at why I wanted to open Karma, and think about our motto. Yes, Doing Good does rebound-every time!! Everyone will always be welcome at Karma, if someone can't afford food, we will gladly share with him. I will always have time to listen and share with a friend. So, come in and sit with me and let us revisit what Karma is all about!!! Hope to see you soon- Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Lorna
