We are so glad we have so many loyal customers already! There are many things we are thankful for: our wonderful chefs-Paul, who has been with us from the start and Sherry, who makes such wonderful food including all the pastries everyone raves about. Both are working hard to make Karma a successful place that everyone will love visiting. We are thankful for our friends and loyal customers (many have become, just over the past few weeks we have been open, our friends!)-without customers, we would not have a business. Our chefs are dedicated to making you the best, freshest food possible-they are both excellently trained and talented individuals. We have wonderful locally roasted organic coffee and Eddie, our barista has many years of experience. Lavonda, Nikki and a few new people will be around to help with the service. Lavonda is a wonderful friend who has worked as a nurse for a number of years. Nikki has managed a restaurant in Michigan and has worked in the area of hospitality for several years. In addition, you will see my friend Elma jumping in to help when needed (and even my busy friend, Shavene!!! Working at the hospital and a private practice and she still jumps in and helps. Cheri, also has been know to wait tables and clean. Alexis has helped me.. Okay you get the picture-we have great friends!!). My children-we are losing Sunni to a full-time job, where she can use her degree (she will still fill in when she can) and Ian is taking a break to visit our older son, Shawn, for part of the summer (he loves helping Sherry in the kitchen and is a "chef in training"),Shawn came to visit and help me straighten up some of my boondoggle of papers. Angie, jumps in when she visits if we are busy-so I guess you would say all our children help. Nero washes dishes and cleans on the weekends (after working away all week-helping OTHER business, as a management consultant). We Love the Farmer's Market!! We also love the Urban Farmer's Market!!! Great fresh veggies and fruit this week at Karma, thanks to our local farmers. Fresh greens, blackberries, squash of all kinds, cucumbers, green beans, onions, radishes, tomatoes and more all are being used this week at Karma. Thank you local farmers (we love you) for making such excellent things available! Thank you to Katie, at the Urban Farmer's Market for bringing us some of her wonderful organically grown veggies!!! Also, I am so glad to see my friend Roosevelt back at the Farmer's Market!!! He had lovely produce-so I got a double treat!!! I got to visit with Roosevelt and buy some of his wonderful veggies! Beautiful freshly picked blackberries also found their way into Karma-Chef Sherry made them into beautiful shortbread treats! Chef Paul has made all kinds of sauces with the other veggies-plus potato leak soup, potato salad and more. Karma is buzzing with freshness!!!! Keep the great veggies and fruit coming our way! Just a quick note (because this was so wordy!)-Thank you, Mebane Acting Company for a great night a Karma. A great group of young actors packed the house (if we can call Karma a "house"), last night. We had tons of laughs, great entertainment and we hope we brought everyone great food (okay, we know we d!!). We hope to have our friends from the Mebane Acting Company back with us soon!! Thanks to Alexis and Tom Drago for bringing such a great group of entertainers (and really nice followers) to Karma. We met some really great people AND had wonderful entertainment last night!!! I was waiting until we had a little more time to perfect everything else, but our food is pretty awesome (thanks to Sherry and Paul), our espresso drinks are pretty great too.. Sunni and Nikki have the service under control-so let's do tea parties!!! Come anytime after two and I will share specialty teas with you. Reasonably priced (teas are 1.50 and up), exotic, soothing, or just plain relaxing. Who doesn't like tea? I I love summer and sitting outside! I am so looking forward to enjoying a nice iced coffee and a fresh fruit salad on my outside eating deck. I hope you all come by and enjoy it with me. It is nice and shady and the umbrellas make it so much nicer. Oh, that gave me an idea!!! We can have umbrella drinks (my favorite)-I have some very cool wine umbrella drinks and some non-alcoholic ones. With a light appetizer in the evening, this will be wonderful.
